Facing Forward
I have decided to participate in The Sketchbook Project this year - another assignment I am giving myself for inspiration! I received my sketchbook in the mail today to be filled up. It will then become part of an exhibition touring the US that will eventually find it's way back to the Brooklyn Art Library.
Out of the choices they had I decided on the subject "Facing Forward". To me, that means not being held back by the past. I have been spending all year facing forward, and this project is part of that process for me - it's all a bit D&M really!

Sketchbook Revival
This work is from some old sketchbooks I found recently from when I was in art college. I surprised myself when I realised how much I have been doing over the years, and not just since I started this blog.

IF - Atmosphere
This weeks Illustration Friday topic is Atmosphere.
I go to the beach to soak up the atmosphere. It fixes everything.

More W.I.P.
I have dozens of things going at once. I have been posting work in progress for months, some of which I still haven't finished (organisation has never been my strong point!). Mostly I am still getting to a point where I can find a style that works and stick to it. But between working on paintings, I am also doing weekly illustrations, patterns, and sketchbook ideas and things are now starting to come together. Here is another painting I have been working on which is not far off completion, acrylic and ink on canvas...

Fabrics!
I have been having a go at designing some fabrics, which can be found at Spoonflower. Getting my head around patterns and colour combinations has been a problem! Eventually I will get some fabrics made up. Well... that's the plan anyway!

Favourite Artist: Ben Quilty
I am a big fan of Ben Quilty's art. The paint on his work is so thickly applied it looks almost alive. I think what I love most about them is that they are very spontaneous - that and his control over the paint is something I would love to be able to do myself.

Coming Up...
I am now putting some of the experimental work I have been doing on canvas - part of a collection of pieces ready for my Etsy Shop coming later in the year! Exciting!
