What medium have you used? I'm thinking you created this atmosphere with something that itsn't usually used this way... Looks as though it could be wood cut.
Knitting Painter Woman, this is done with ink and watercolour, but I love the "weathered" effect, so I lightly sand it back to show up the texture of the paper.
